Clenching/Grinding Appliances
Most people probably grind and clench their teeth from time to time. Occasional teeth grinding, medically called bruxism, does not usually cause harm; but when teeth grinding occurs on a regular basis the teeth can become damaged and other oral health complications can arise.
In some cases, chronic teeth grinding can result in a fracturing, loosening, or loss of teeth. The chronic grinding may wear teeth down to stumps. When these events happen, bridges, crowns, root canals, implants, partial dentures, and even complete dentures may be needed.
Not only can severe grinding damage teeth and result in tooth loss, it can also affect your jaw, cause or worsen TMD/TMJ, and even change the appearance of your face.
Stop the wear process of your teeth from grinding and clenching with a custom made night guard. These appliances are worn at night to deprogram your jaw muscles from stress related over-function. Subconscious clenching and grinding generate more force on your teeth, thus more damage. Adult teeth will not grow back. Worn teeth can lead to TMJ discomfort, tooth fracture, stress cracks, sensitivity, gum recession, bone loss, loose teeth, and an aged appearance.
Pediatric Care
Children should have their first visit to the dentist at the age of one and a half years old. Giving children a positive experience at a young age is essential to their dental health and dental “expectations”. The growth and development of the facial and oral anatomy will be evaluated, because early intervention of any abnormal development is key to optimal health and well-being.
